What is a Reiki healing treatment?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY) is a Japanese energy technique that is used to reduce stress & promote relaxation.
You lay -- fully clothed -- on a massage table, while I place my hands lightly on your body, from your head to your feet. While my hands are touching your body, I am channeling the energy from the universe through me to you, which benefits your physical, emotional and spiritual healing. Reiki helps to unblock any energetic blockages, and helps keeps you in The Flow. It's as simple as that! But, I caution you to not dismiss it for its simplicity. After all, aren't the simplest things in life the most powerful? (E.g., love?)
At this point, you are either intrigued to learn more, or are thinking, "There goes crazy Leigh again, spouting off about 'the energy of the Universe' Bwah!!" But before you dismiss Reiki as another New Agey fad, let me offer you a couple of thoughts...
The Big Bang Theory suggests that in the beginning, all matter was contained in a single point, which is considered the beginning of the universe (about 14 billion years ago, give or take a few hundred thousand years). At this point, the universe was 10 billion degrees hot (plus or minus a few hundred thousand degrees). Immediately after the initial explosion, the universe started cooling, which allowed atoms to form, which is what all of us are made of. So when I am talking about the "woo-woo" energy of the universe, I'm talking about what many people -- astrophysicists, NASA scientists, you know, that whole wacky fringe of society -- have dedicated their entire careers to studying and exploring.
Second, "Modern science tells us that the human organism is not just a physical structure made of molecules, but that, like everything else, we are also composed of energy fields." (Barbara Brennan, Hands of Light, 1987). An EKG (electrocardiogram) measures the electrical currents of the heart. An EEG (electroencephalogram) measures the electrical currents of the brain. A SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) measures the electromagnetic fields around the body. We are more than what appears to the naked eye. Ms. Brennan, by the way, used to be one of those zany NASA research scientists, having worked at the Goddard Space Flight Center after her completion of her M.S. degree in Atmospheric Physics. ;)
Reiki, essentially, is using the energy of the universe to help people -- who are also made of energy.
I, myself, am a Reiki Master, which means I have completed the three levels of Reiki training (Reiki I, Reiki II, and Reiki III). I have studied with Grace Walsh, who has studied with Pat Iyer & Jim Pathfinder Ewing. I have also learned -- and continue to learn -- from Gay Hayden (MA, LMHC). I received my Reiki III (Reiki Master) level from Catherine Simmons.
If you would like to learn more about Reiki, experience a Reiki session (new clients can receive the first healing session at half price -- if you've got this far, you've earned it!), or just talk about the general workings of the universe, please shoot me an email/text/phone call. Or if I'm lucky, I'll get to bypass that whole technology thing and meet you the Old School way -- face to face! (Not "Facebook to Facebook".)
